DESCRIPTION: APW - Ball Illinois, Official Standard, Grade 810, 23J, 16S, white gold-filled OF original Ball Official RR Standard stirrup bow case with attractive pattern engraving to rear, rear shield with initials, white enamel SS dial, distinctive skeletonized Ball Illinois style hands, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, bull's-eye pattern nickel damascene, s#B800887. An excellent example of this top grade railroad watch. From known examples it appears that the total production of the Ball Illinois Grade 810 was likely 3200 made.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, short but deep scratch adjacent left side train bridge screw, larger winding wheel with some fine scratches, small patch of oxide to regulator spring; dial with some very small hls or fractures at upper-rim of seconds-register, few minuscule edge nicks under bezel; excellent hands with some small bits of oxide, finish loss to tip of minute; case shows little wear, few nicks to band, no dents, good overall engraving detail with some loss of finer detail at left and right side elements of rear perimeter; tight bow, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with small fine scratch above center and ample glue excess at its seat.
